The book focuses on promoting a neutral space, to overcome communication issues, with very at risk population, such as forensic patients with personality disorders and traumatized refugees - the use of transitional phenomena on building communication while trying to create a trusting environment, where patients feel comfortable, whilst also undergo a process of individuation. To this end, the book is divided into four parts. Part one deals with daunting challenges faced in the work with very at risk patients that have led to the creation of this technique, and is intended to highlight transference and counter transference issues. The part two is consisted of chapters on theoretical frameworks. Going through psychoanalytic thinking (Winnicott, Bion, Segal, Riesenberg-Malcolm, etc) besides scientific studies, the premise of this technique is supported. The chapters that comprise the part three refer to a detailed description of the technique per se, including all prerequisites and steps of this methodological approach in different settings, namely: long and short term therapy, crisis intervention and interviews. As a final point, in part four, I thought it might be worthwhile to take in the appreciation of the staff as well as of the patients regarding changes in patients' pattern of behaviour.
